Violetta Bogdanova (b. 2000) is an artist working across painting, performance, poetry, and video art. Born in Petropavl, she currently lives and works in Almaty. Bogdanova’s early works can be attributed to mystical realism, while her later paintings lean toward abstraction. Dominated by light pastel colors and repeated patterns over ethereal backdrops, often inspired by the snowy landscapes of Northern Kazakhstan, her practice seeks to detoxify a world oversaturated with visual information. Humor, simplicity, vulnerability, and fragility are central to her language, imbuing her works with both disarming sincerity and poetic playfulness.
In December 2024, Bogdanova directed an absurdist New Year’s show Golubiny Ogonyok in collaboration with Tselinny, following her first solo exhibition Nothing Important at Tselinny in 2023. Her work has also been featured at ARTBAT Fest, the April Fools’ Competition in Bishkek, Sapar Contemporary (Almaty), TSE Art Destination (Astana), Egin (Almaty), and YEMAA Art Space (Atyrau). Her video works were presented at the festivals QYZQARAS and NOMSIZ.
